Message to the Future, Bertrand Russell from Zoltan MalikWhat would you think it’s worth telling future generations about the life you’ve lived and the lessons you’ve learned from it?
"I should like to say two things, one intellectual and one moral. The intellectual thing I should want to say is this: When you are studying any matter, or considering any philosophy, ask yourself only what are the facts and what is the truth that the facts bear out. Never let yourself be diverted either by what you wish to believe, or by what you think would have beneficent social effects if it were believed. But look only, and solely, at what are the facts. That is the intellectual thing that I should wish to say.
The moral thing I should wish to say… I should say love is wise, hatred is foolish. In this world which is getting more closely and closely interconnected we have to learn to tolerate each other, we have to learn to put up with the fact that some people say things that we don’t like. We can only live together in that way and if we are to live together and not die together we must learn a kind of charity and a kind of tolerance which is absolutely vital to the continuation of human life on this planet." Targeted By Malignant Narcissism?
Brief History
The social psychologist, Erich Fromm first coined the term "malignant narcissism" in 1964, describing it as a "severe mental sickness" representing "the quintessence of evil". He characterized the condition as "the most severe pathology and the root of the most vicious destructiveness and inhumanity."
What is Narcissistic Personality Disorder?
Narcissistic personality disorder (NPD) is a disorder, characterized by exaggerated feelings of self-importance, an excessive need for admiration, and a lack of empathy for others.
People with the disorder are often perceived as arrogant, callous, envious and tend to be exploitative in their interpersonal relationships.
They can be excessively preoccupied with personal adequacy, power, prestige and vanity.
Those with NPD generally lack emotional awareness and insight into their own condition, and fail to acknowledge that their behavior is at the root of their own problems as well as the problems they cause for others because, as a personality disorder, their thoughts, perceptions, and actions are generally consistent with their sense of self.
In cases of child sexual abuse that lead to narcissism, blaming the victim expands the trauma.
Are malignant narcissists cases of arrested development?
They are perpetually living in a mind set of a young child. The age when a child is old enough to know the difference between right and wrong but very willing to do wrong if they think they won't get caught. Like a child, they feel entitled to whatever they want. Like a child, they recreate reality to suit their fantasy about themselves and the world around them. Like a child, they want all attention focused on them. But, unlike a child, the narcissist is not subject to being molded and shaped by authority figures or reality. The narcissist is determined (read here, conscious choice) to remain a child whereas most children are driven by a desire to grow up. Children are childish and there is no crime in that. I'm not pathologizing childhood. I'm highlighting that malignant narcissists are pathological children.
They reserve to themselves the right to define reality to all in their domain.
What are Phobic Symptoms?
For example:
Feelings of uncontrollable anxiety when a narcissist is about to be exposed for
__Feelings that everything possible must be done to avoid
__Inability to function normally because of anxiety due to
__Having knowledge that fears are unreasonable or exaggerated, but feeling powerless to control them, which will sometimes lead to panic attacks.
What is Narcissistic Abuse?
Narcissistic abuse is one of the most pervasive forms of abuse. There really isn't much worse and this condition is increasingly spreading throughout our society.
The increasing use of illegal drugs, abuse and the general social breakdown occurring world wide is a major cause.
A person with Narcissistic Personality Disorder (NPD) will emotionally damage their families. This damage can last more than a life time, it will also affect the next 3 or 4 generations.
Many children of NPD elect to not perpetuate the craziness another generation by not having children. NPD can also be passed down through the generations. Great grandma had NPD and one of the great grand children also is afflicted with NPD.
NPD's are very good actors and actresses. They can feign love or whatever they need to get what they want. They tend to attract empaths or people that really want to help them. These make wonderful victims, especially the type that can keep turning the cheek.
1). They’re likable — at least, at first glance. ~ 2). Not all narcissists are loud and proud. In fact, some are quiet and shy. ~ 3). They can often be found in leadership roles.
Not that that makes them good leaders, notes Jean Twenge, Ph.D., a professor in the Department of Psychology at San Diego State University and co-author of The Narcissism Epidemic with Campbell. But narcissists often find themselves in leadership positions because "people who are narcissistic want to be leaders. They don't necessarily make better leaders, but they want to do it, so they're more likely to end up in those positions."
4). They always manage to make the conversation about themselves. ~ 5). They’re also guilty of name-dropping. ~ 6). Not every story a narcissist tells is one of victory. But even in the stories of tragedy or failure, there’s an air of entitlement and victimization. ~ 7). They like nice things. ~ 8). Appearance is everything to them. ~ 9). On Facebook, they have lots of friends — and not a single bad picture. ~ 10). They are strongly averse to criticism. ~ 11). Excuses are a narcissist’s best friend. ~ 12). They leave a trail of wreckage behind them. ~ 13). And in that vein, they may be more likely to cheat. ~ 14). Everything is personal. ~ 15). A narcissistic person probably has no idea he or she is a narcissist. ~ 16). You find yourself resorting to flattery just to maintain the peace with a narcissist. ~ 17). Narcissists are not low in self-esteem. ~ 18). Men are more likely to be narcissists than women.
Are you a target of narcissistic abuse?
If you have been the target of a severe narcissist, severing ties may be necessary. Others may never understand why you had to make this choice. Without exposure, a capacity for insight, concern and curiosity, they cannot perceive the destructiveness. It may make you feel alone, but so be it. Do what you have to do.
Once you are removed and safe, thoughts about what happened—why, how, makes no sense, they do not care about the damage they caused, etc,—may haunt you. You may feel damaged or tainted because you are now saddled with the memories and feel you cannot get them out of your head.
You can...
Heal Yourself, Ruthie Foster, film: Road To Austin from Gary FortinHere's how: Develop the ability to change your thoughts or your relationship to your thoughts. There are many options such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Mindfulness-Based Therapy and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy
It can be done.
Regarding the incredibly seductive pull of a very skilled narcissist, be wise.
When the bombs of life hit us, our world view is shattered. Our assumption of a fair world run by a benevolent deity is brought into direct conflict with the hell of our pain. Experiencing extreme pain affects how we view ourselves. The picture of the beautiful, happy loving world we used to live in, involved our own part of that picture. We all carry pictures of ourselves in our heads. Most of us have the belief that we are capable to wake up in the morning, shower, get ourselves dressed and proceed throughout our day making our living. The trauma of victimization changes all this. We seriously question ourselves after a narcissist victimizes us. Are we weak? Are we needy? How did we not see them for who they were? Weren't we intelligent? How did we not pick up on the lies? Are we out of control? It makes no sense to us when we face unwarranted, irrational and undeserved mental /emotional torture by a narcissist.
The victimization of us was neither expected nor intended to be our choice. We did not want to be lied to, cheated, cheated on, stolen from, lied about, sold down the river and thrown away. We did NOT see this coming. We perceive ourselves as helpless and powerless. Our self perceptions change. Will we now always be victimized in relationships? Will we be singled out again? These new self perceptions can cause us to act out again, from this perception; becoming another victim to a narcissist.
As you can see, the skillful narcissist is a person with some pretty amazing traits. In my opinion, they can be formidable. They can be impressive in power, strength, intelligence, size, and difficulty. If you find one opposing you, they can be astounding enemies. They are not omnipotent, though they might think so. They do have limitations. Their ego is their own undoing. Many times, when they discover that you are on to them, they disappear. They do this if they perceive that you can blow their cover and expose them as a sham. For an extreme narcissist, being fully exposed to the world is the greatest pain in their lives. It is also the best medicine to their disease because it will force them to look inside and deal with their pain and wounds. If and when that happens, they will become like the rest of us, realizing that we do need others to help and love us. They will see how they need to love from a genuine heart that does not seek to use people. A former and healed narcissist can turn all his powerful assets, which he used to advance himself, to making a powerful contribution in the lives of others and being realistically liked. In the meantime, be careful and avoid being duped and drawn by the amazing magnetism of this kind of person.
Conclusion
If you have been targeted by a Malignant Narcissist for serious abuse, be aware that the abuse includes character assassination ~ the annihilation of who you are as a person.
Just as through murder a careful criminal leaves no witnesses, a malignant narcissist is careful to abuse on the sly and destroy the victim's credibility in advance in order to "leave no witnesses."
Character assassination is the premeditated murder of the target's image, their good name, their reputation, and ultimately their life.

Dear Citizens of the World
I believe the time has come to reveal to you some of the perplexities you have faced in recent decades.
It is important to understand some of these things, so that you might know how to behave in the New World Order now taking shape on this planet you call Earth. We want you to be able to become fully involved and integrated into our new society. After all, doing this is for your best interest.
First of all, it is best if you understand some of our purposes so that you may more fully cooperate. I cannot tell you the hard times you will face if you resist us.
We have ways of dealing with resisters and you are being told this now, since it is much too late to turn things around. The days of putting a stop to us have long since past.
We have full control of the earth and it's finances, along with control of major corporate media propaganda, and there is simply no way any nation or power can defeat us.
We have eyes in every level of government in every nation of the world. We know what is being planned, for our ears and eyes are ever present. State secrets are fully known to us.
U.S. corporate media are constantly accused of lying for their government by everyone; including foreign governments.
Oh, you silly people, of course we lie. In this way we can keep the people unbalanced and always facing controversy, which is very helpful to us. Have you not seen the talk show spectacles on FOX?
Some of you believe we are the liberals and the good people are the conservatives. In reality, both serve our purposes. Each camp merely serves with the stamp of our approval, but they are not allowed to present real issues.
For example, consider BP's Oil Spill. By creating controversy on all levels, no one knows what to do. So, in all of this confusion, we go ahead and accomplish what we want with no hindrance. If fact, we teach this within a fraternity in one of your nation's older universities.
Consider President George W. Bush of the United States. Even though he regularly broke every known check on his power, no one could stop him, and he went ahead, and did whatever we wanted him to do.
Congress and 'The People' had no power to stop him. He did what we wanted, since he knew, if he did not, because of his rather dark character, we could have him removed in an instant. I'd say it was, "Rather brilliant strategy on our part?"
You cannot take us to court because you can't see us and the courts are our servants as well. We run everything and you do not know who to attack. I must say this invisible hand is wonderfully devised without any known historical precedent on this scale. We rule the world and the world cannot even find out who is ruling them.
This is truly a wonderful thing. In our corporate media, we present before you exactly what it is we want you to do. Then, as if in a flash you, our little servants, obey!
We can send American or European troops to wherever we like, whenever we like, and for whatever purpose we like, and you dutifully go about our business and don't even look up to see the poisons we are spraying on you in the form of chemtrails. How much more evidence do you need?
We can make you desire to leave your homes and family and go to war merely at our command. We only need to present some nonsense to you from the president's desk, or on the evening news, and we can get you all fired up to do whatever we like. You can do nothing but what we put before you.
Your Vain Resistance
When any of you seek to resist us, we have ways of making you look ridiculous with corporate media, as we have done with all your movements to show the world how impotent any resistance is.
Look at what we did near Waco. Did the Davidian's little store of weapons help them?
We have generously taxed you and used that money to make such sophisticated weapons you can in no way compete. Your own money has served to forge the chains we bind you with; especially, since we are in control of all money.
Some of you think you may escape by buying some land in the country and growing a garden. Let me remind you that you still pay us ground rent. Oh, you may call it property taxes, but it still goes to us.
You see, you need money no matter what you do. If you fail to pay your ground rent to us, we will take your land and sell it to someone who will pay us. Do you think we cannot do this? And with your ground rent we pay for the indoctrination of your children in the public schools we have set up.
We want them to grow up well trained into the system of our thinking. Your children will learn what we want them to learn, when we want them to learn it, and you pay for it through your ground rent.
Those funds are also used for other projects we have in mind, like drilling for oil in the Gulf, and our contractors are paid handsomely for their work.
You may doubt that we own your children, or have such control, but you will find that we do. We can declare that you abuse your children, when you spank them, and have them confiscated. If they do not show up for school indoctrination, we can accuse you of neglect, thereby, giving them to us.
Your children are not yours. They are ours. You must inoculate them, you must bring them to our hospitals, if we decree, or we will take them from you. You know this and we know this.
Through our electronic commerce and iDevices we are able to see where you are, what you are buying, and how much you have to buy things with. Where do you suppose we come up with our monthly financial statistics?
Through the Internet, Telecoms, and other sources we can even know how you think and what you say. It is not especially important to us what you believe as long as you do what we say.
Your beliefs are nonsense anyway. But if you think you have a following, and we perceive that you might be somewhat dangerous to our agenda, we have ways to deal with you. Do you remember how we used Telecoms to spy for us?
We have a Pandora's box of mischief with which to snare you. We can have you in court so long, you will never get out. We can easily drain away all your assets over one pretext or another. We have an inexhaustible fund with which to draw from to pay our lawyers.
These lawyers are paid by you in the form of taxes. You do not have this vast supply of wealth. We know how to divide and conquer. Have we not brought down rulers of countries through our devices?
Do you think your tiny self will be any match for us?
Your Vain Organizations
Let us consider your religions, tea parties, and "moral majority."
The "moral majority" is neither moral nor is it in the majority. We have delighted to use this wet noodle of a movement to make ridiculous the Christian faith.
The silly men who run that organization always end up with egg on their faces. We have always put them in defense of themselves, as we have so successfully done with the NRA.
We can make it seem, by our corporate media propaganda, that the National Rifle Association is actually the new Al Qaeda.
Have we not turned the American conservative movement on its ear? If it serves our purposes we can use the conservatives to turn the liberals on their ear.
It makes no difference to us but it serves to make you believe there are two sides struggling for their particular position. This helps to make things seem fair and free, since everyone has a voice.
Actually, there is only one side now with all kinds of masks on, but you are unable to penetrate our purposes.
You see, we can do whatever we like and you can do nothing about it.
Does it not seem reasonable that you should simply obey and serve us? Otherwise, you get eaten up in the resistance you suppose that will liberate you.
You cannot be liberated ... Try to Imagine how you can.
We supply fuel for your cars and we can turn it off whenever we like, claiming there is some sort of fuel shortage. What if your car breaks down? You cannot get parts for it without us.
We supply all money you use and at any whim of our desire, we can stop the money supply, or ... cause a complete crash all together.
We can then order the president to declare all money worthless and that we will have to have new money. All of your stashes of cash will go up in smoke in an instant.
Don't you need food?
If necessary, we can cause a trucker's strike which would stop deliveries of food to your local store. We can starve you whenever we like. You only have food because we have provided it for you from our 'supermarket to the world' table.
During the great depression we controlled food and heaped mountains of it behind fences, to let it rot.
The hungry were then made to work in our labor camps, even though there was enough, and more, to feed them. Do you really think you can beat us?
You say you will hoard gold coins so you will still have money in the time of the crash. We can simply pass a law which outlaws the possession of gold as we have done in the past.
If we find gold in your possession, we would simply confiscate it, and put you in prison for breaking the law.
While in prison, or at one of our recently reconstructed FEMA camps, you would be required to work for one of our prison industries. We have so formed a picture of the labor camps in our prisons, these days, that no one seems to object to them.
We tell people that murderers should pay for their own keep.
No one seems to consider that we have the power to put tomato growers in prison.
We can pass laws that prohibit gardens, and then make up some scientific reason why you may only buy food from our sources.
If someone sees you growing tomatoes, they will report you to us, and then we will have you in our fields, working for us.
Oh, silly, stoned out of your minds, people, there is no escape for you, for since long before you were born, we were planning your capture.
Your teachers and ministers have been forming your thoughts for us, for generations now. You have been tricked into taking corporate drugs that were intended for short term usage, which have turned you into a nation of controlled mood zombies, and you have no idea how to pull out of our influence, short of suicide. Go ahead and commit suicide, it will only help us to deal with excessive population.
You cannot hurt us, find us, or even imagine what we are up to. I am throwing you these few crumbs only so that you may, if you have a little good sense, obey and follow our orders.
Your Controlled Mind
We run Hollywood. The movies such as Terminator and Armageddon, along with a great host of others, were simply created to get you thinking according to our directions.
You have been made to delight in violence, so that when we send you off to kill some bad man, we have put before you, you move without a whimper.
We have placed violent arcade games in your malls to prepare your young children's minds in the art of battle.
We have made you view our armies and police as the good forces, which cause you to submit to things that were unthinkable a few decades ago.
We totally orchestrated 9/11 and blamed it on somebody else using our corporate media and Congress, who we bought through our lobbies.
Think about it ... Congress spent about 60 million (60,000,000) of your income tax dollars, to discover if Monica swallowed (a little pre-reality show we dreamed up) and a little over 3 million dollars on the 9/11 Commission because we did not want an investigation of secret energy meetings or 9/11 to surface. See how easy it is to trick you?
Our artful programs are all designed to help you to submit and help the New World Order. Star Trek, and other such creations, have taught you to simply: obey orders from new international rulers.
Oh, silly people, you thought you were being entertained, while you were actually being educated. Dare I use the words, "brainwashed" or "mind control?" By the way, have you ever seen Star Wars?
What a masterpiece of mental manipulation. Humans confer with nondescript beasts of all shapes and sizes, and they confer in English.
I wonder where those space beasts learned English. Oh, the simple-ness of the mind of the citizen, for sh-he never considers sh-he is being taken into fairyland.
We placed advertisements for Star Wars everywhere you go. They were in WalMart, K-Mart, Taco Bell and a host of our institutions of corporate commerce.
There is something we want you to learn from Star Wars. Or, perhaps it could be said, there is something we do not want you to learn. Either way, we will have what we want in the whole affair.
Of course, to keep you off guard, we have instructed our elected officials to appear to be correcting the evil of our violence. Presidents often speak against violence in Hollywood movies.
This will not solve the problem, but it will make the people believe the problem is being worked on.
Sex and violence are the very best powers to use, to help us gain our advantage. How the people loathe to give up their sex and violence, so we place all they want before them. In this way, we keep them so occupied they do not have the integrity or brain-power to deal with the really important matters which are left entirely in our hands.
President Bush was very helpful to us. We knew of what character he was before we placed him as president. Exposing him was very helpful in adjusting the moral habits of the youth downward and this is too, our advantage.
Even more agreeable to us were the vain efforts of those who thought they could remove him against our will. He was useful to us and we control who is removed or not removed.
Excuse me if I seem to be mocking your system of beliefs, but they are rather outdated. Have you no eyes to see your vain liberties and your righteous pontifications are nothing before us? You can only do what we say you can do.
We remove presidents when we are ready and the leader we set up will be there until it serves us to have another. At that time we place our purposed politicians before you, and you vote for what we want.
In that way we give you the vain voting exercise in the belief you had something to do with placing your politicians in office.
Our Unfathomable Mysteries
Our recent war in Iraq had many purposes to it, but we do not speak of these things openly. We let the talk show hosts blather all sorts of nonsense, but none of it touches the core.
First of all, there is a wealth of natural resources on the planet we must have complete control of.
Iraq has large supplies of oil in its soil and oil is very helpful to our regime. Also, it suits us to keep this oil out of the hands of potential enemies.
For those who have not been helpful in getting these resources into our hands, we simply make things difficult until submission. Does anyone recall the word "sanction?"
We can reduce any proud nation to the level of humility we require from all people. For example if Zionist Israel does not sufficiently humble itself, we will take them to the world court, and have them charged with "war crimes." We made up that term; rather ingenious, don't you think?
How could there be such a thing as a war crime? The very nature of war is that the rules are off. It is so entertaining to watch the nations try to fight war according to the laws we have placed before them.
The only war crime there really is, involves the crime of being against us.
Anyone against us is violating our law and, as you have seen, when someone is for us, we do not care what they do. Was not Ariel Sharon a self professed murdering terrorist who tortured and horribly killed many of his enemies women and children? We made a hero of him. And what about the Bush administration? Are any of them in jail? No, they are still working for us and on your televisions, getting paid big salaries.
We observe no laws when it comes to war. We do what we want, when we want, and where we want.
We can starve nations to death, ruin civilizations, and commit other horrors for which we take our enemies to court. Look at one of our examples.
We bomb Iraq out of its wits. We can bomb rock throwing Palestinians out of their homes, poison their rivers and streams, turn off their electricity, making a grand crisis, and then we masterfully make it appear it is the fault of Islam.
It is the same way we made our inferno at Waco look like Mr. Koresh's fault. Then there was our chief villain, Saddam with all of his non existent weapons of mass destruction.
Bad men are a dime a dozen, we can conjure one up whenever it suits us, and ultimately, this is really quite funny when you think of it.
I am not one who is usually given to 'this sort' of humor, but I do catch myself laughing sometimes at the absolute absurdity of the notions we place before you, that you readily accept.
Do you wonder that the leaders of the world tremble at our presence? They know they have no power except the power we give them.
We have no fear of Russia or China, for we are already in full control of their system of things.
China knows we can freeze any number of their corporations in America and all of its capitol at the stroke of a pen. We use nations for what we want to use them for. Everyone knows that they must yield to us or die.
Fortunately, we have had a few resisters, such as Saddam, that have been helpful in showing world leaders what we will do to them if they do not submit.
There is only glory in following our purposes and doing what we say. If one does not, there will be a sad and tragic result.
I would have spared you of such an end, but, then, again, if you are not spared, it is of no consequence to us. We will use you to alleviate some of the overpopulation problem.
Your Silly Rebellions Against Us
Some of you have thought you could stop us by placing a bomb in one of our abortion clinics or in a government building.
Silly souls! How can that hurt us? All that does is give us an example to use so that we might place more controls, and heavy burdens, on the population.
We love it when you rebel and blow something up. You are our reason for making more laws against all those things, which might contribute to your freedom from us.
If someone did not blow something up on occasion, we would have no justification in placing more laws on you. Can't you see how impossible it is for you to resist us? The more you wiggle, the more we squeeze.
It is said our kingdom is the kingdom of money, but I must confess we are rulers of a kingdom of non-money.
You must see the humor in that statement. We have given you a piece of paper or some numbers on a computer screen that we have termed money.
It is backed up by nothing and proven by nothing, but what we say it is. We create it from nothing, we print it, we loan it, we give it its value, we take its value away. All things that have to do with money are in our hands.
Think of it, what is it that you can do against us without money? If you try to resist, we can cancel your credit or freeze your accounts. Your cash is easily confiscated.
We have made so many rules in the realm of living that you cannot live without money.
Camp on government land and you must move in two weeks. You cannot grow much of a garden in two weeks.
Many of our wilderness trails are entered by permit only.
We have passed laws that do not allow you to live in trailers over a certain period without moving to another location.
Have you not thought it ridiculous that we will allow a man to live in a box, full time, but we will not allow a man to live in a RV, full time, unless he is in a taxpaying campground? We want you to be in the system.
When you are buying a house, we not only receive the tax revenue to use for our purposes, but we gain large increases from the interest on the loan. You may pay for your house two or three times over from the interest alone. The interest is also taxed which is again placed for use in those sectors of influence we choose.
We do not want you to escape free and that is why we have made it as we have.
You are our property. We will not permit you to buy or sell unless you submit to our mark of authority.
If you go to court against us, we will wear you out, and in the end you will lose.
If you use violence, we will end up having you in one of our labor camps; more specifically called, prison industries.
You need our money, our entertainments, our fuel, and our utilities to function and if you don't have them, you feel deprived. By this, you are made to yield to our will.
You don't even know how to think anymore since we have thoroughly emasculated your religions and your faith in God. Now, you only have yourself ... and we have gotten 'that self' pretty well chasing its tail these days.
I hope this little note is sufficient to inform you what the new millennium is all about.
The 21st century is our century. You may stay if you do as you are told.
We have no intention of playing around with your so-called human rights or your so-called Constitution. These things were only used for our purposes, for a time. Your Constitution is a joke to us, and we can do with it what we please.
It probably never occurred to you, that years ago, your Constitution was used to refuse abortions. When we decided to have abortions legalized, we used the same Constitution to justify it.
Your human rights are what we say they are and your Constitution is what we say it is.
We have only used this phrase of "human rights" to keep things sufficiently in turmoil. The more things are unsettled, the better we like them, until we have everything in complete servitude.
This little letter may offend some of you, because it is presented so plainly, but that truly is no concern of ours. In simple terms, to quote our boy Dick Cheney, "Go F**k Yourself!" and have a nice day... Permmalink ~ Cartoon Version ~ Patriot Act ~ Telecom Crimes ~ Denialist ~ Drop Dead

Freedom of expression and freedom of speech aren't really important unless they're heard...It's hard for me to stay silent when I keep hearing that peace is only attainable through war. And there's nothing more scary than watching ignorance in action. So I dedicated this Emmy to all the people who feel compelled to speak out and not afraid to speak to power and won't shut up and refuse to be silenced. ~ Tom Smothers

All Along The Watchtower, The Jimi Hendrix Experience from JimiHendrixVEVO"Why do you post this crap?" is frequently asked and the answer requires an example.
Victims of the Fury, Robin Trower from Egista07During Apollo 11's return from the moon astronaut Neil Armstrong said, "A hundred years ago, Jules Verne wrote a book about a voyage to the Moon. His spaceship, Columbia, took off from Florida and landed in the Pacific Ocean after completing a trip to the Moon. It seems appropriate to us to share with you some of the reflections of the crew as the modern-day Columbia completes its rendezvous with the planet Earth and the same Pacific Ocean tomorrow" (source) and simply, the above example shows science fiction is able become real.
Multus* discovered that posting science fiction stories and false flag information can prevent certain things from happening because powers that be... prefer not to give any credibility, whatsoever, to "crap posters."
...The powers that be by Roger Waters from budcritchlow*Multus ~ Latin word for multiple and an alleged highly educated secret order.
Members of Multus, also known as "Multies," work, on occasion, with "Singulars."
Singulars are common (87+/-%) and usually educated in one field of study. Multies (3%) are educated in a variety of scientific and related fields of study.
It is alleged one has to have an "Above 33" secret clearance (no president of the United States has ever had) in order to know the true purpose of Multies and ... that they are peaceful, positive beings involved with preservation of humanity.
In order to understand Multus, ARPA; established during 1958, was renamed "DARPA" (D for Defense) in March 1972, then renamed "ARPA" in February 1993, and then renamed "DARPA" again in March 1996 because Multies refused to harm any living thing. In other words, Multies turned DARPA back into ARPA, for a while, in order to get some important work done.
Roads To Freedom, Robin Trower from makethemaccountableJohn Titor on Civil War
I remember 2036 very clearly. It is difficult to describe 2036 in detail without spending a great deal of time explaining why things are so different.
In 2036, I live in central Florida with my family and I'm currently stationed at an Army base in Tampa. A world war in 2015 killed nearly three billion people. The people that survived grew closer together. Life is centered on the family and then the community. I cannot imagine living even a few hundred miles away from my parents.
There is no large industrial complex creating masses of useless food and recreational items. Food and livestock is grown and sold locally. People spend much more time reading and talking together face to face. Religion is taken seriously and everyone can multiply and divide in their heads.
Life has changed so much over my lifetime that it's hard to pin down a "normal" day. When I was 13, I was a soldier. As a teenager, I helped my dad haul cargo. I went to college when I was 31 and I was recruited to "time travel" shortly after that. Again, I suppose an average day in 2036 is like an average day on the farm.
Have You Seen The Saucers?, Jefferson Airplane from JeffersonJukeboxThere is a civil war in the United States that starts in 2005. That conflict flares up and down for 10 years. In 2015, Russia launches a nuclear strike against the major cities in the United States (which is the "other side" of the civil war from my perspective), China and Europe. The United States counter attacks. The US cities are destroyed along with the AFE (American Federal Empire)...thus we (in the country) won. The European Union and China were also destroyed. Russia is now our largest trading partner and the Capitol of the US was moved to Omaha Nebraska.
One of the biggest reasons why food production is localized is because the environment is affected with disease and radiation. We are making huge strides in getting it cleaned up. Water is produced on a community level and we do eat meat that we raise ourselves.
After the war, early new communities gathered around the current Universities. That's where the libraries were. I went to school at Fort UF, which is now called the University of Florida. Not too much is different except the military is large part of people's life and we spend a great deal of time in the fields and farms at the "University" or Fort.
The Constitution was changed after the war. We have 5 presidents that are voted in and out on different term periods. The vice president is the president of the senate and they are voted separately. ~ John Titor
End of Age Scenario for Couth Kith
Those Without Personal Experience Will Not Understand
Lord If There Is A Harder Way Please Show It To Me Because It Must Be Blissful.by C. Spangler
One perspective shows that in this place... reality is simple, only exists in duality, and (as presented by the Einstein~Podolsky~Rosen Paradox) is telepathic.
...In This Place, Robin Trower from GoinToSleepBIATCHDuality separated from the proverbial You can be observed like sunrise and sunset and is nothing more than an age old struggle of darkness vs. light or negative vs. positive and can be viewed as a "there's that one again" scenario; allowing one to obtain 'observer' mode, which I highly approve of ... as opposed to a 'caught up in' mode.
The upcoming aeon transition (begins during 2050 and aligns 2150 by my calculation) was known far in advance; however, here is where a problem lies. There is no previous experience recorded (currently known) that one can call on for guidance. In other words, everything is new for all facets of this conversion, where light overpowers darkness, people finally get along, and there is no more war.
Tomorrow Never Knows, The Beatles from Adrian GrantIn the past, here is how I have attempted to described what is to occur when this aeon change happens.
If one looks at a Yin/Yang symbol (above graphic), ... on one side there is a vast amount of dark with a little light spot and on the other side there is a vast amount of light with a little dark spot.
When the 2050 conversion occurs, those in the smaller dot of light will move to the larger side of light and those currently in the larger side of darkness will move to the small dark spot, where they will be constantly observed and kept in check. There is an obscure old saying that relates to this, "You have made your bed, now sleep in it."
Because this is duality there are specific rules that grant powers to the dark side allowing THEM to obtain souls for their new realm, and in order to do this, they will exert massive amounts of negativity in order to create fear; thus obtaining slaves for their new reign in their small dot of darkness. This is nothing new because it has always been like this and is, proverbially, the 'same old, same old' ... stuff.
The Lonely One, Dave Mason from Sri_Prach_yaIn realms of astral and casual realities; remembering one definition of Hiranyaloka is a subtle astral heaven where souls of the astral and casual planes are able to converse, it is noted "things do not change, people do" ... meaning, ... until the recording called life plays through perfectly, without incident, this cycle will constantly repeat itself, no matter where this scenario is experienced or played out. For example, Jesus said, "In my father's house there are many mansions" suggesting Earth is not our only home.
Without being aware of it, the general population attempts to achieve liberation; 'freedom from the cycle, of birth and death'.
Most folks I know are in a state of devotional liberation; having achieved freedom from this cycle, who return to the carnal world to help those seeking liberation as an act of Seva or selfless service.
Needless to say, negative aspects of this dualism scenario are well aware of this conversion and make a tremendous amount of noise in order to divert attention from those souls attempting to obtain this liberation.
There is no set guide or path to achieve this state of awareness other than one's personal experience; however, here is where selfless service or meditation enter the picture as a calming and growing aid.
Although not specific to what is presented above, and as a temporary conclusion for now, here is a related story as told by someone else on a similar path, and in my opinion food for thought for preparing for this aeon change.
Be Aware: The Nexus Approaches!
Out of the Blue, George Harrison from Gamaliel CaceresPosted on October 10, 2010 by mayasoma

"The human race is headed towards a great change, many spirits will return to the stars and something magnificent is going to happen!" Astral Walker
Can you feel it? The race is on, the diaspora has begun and souls are scrambling to make sense of the intensifying energies on Planet Earth. If only our history books had documented the truth of the astrological cycles as the Maya, and many other indigenous tribes, have long done for their own people, then there would not be so much uncertainty and fear. Unfortunately, that is not how this part of our homo-sapien history is to be played out. At present, the 3D world is going crazy and the only way to manuever these times is to understand the facts. And so, without further ado, here is some of our history…
No One Like You, Sarah Brightman - Topic26,000 years ago, the galactic center of the Milky Way emitted an enormous energetic wave better known as the Nexus. It does this every 26,000 years, as they say, there is nothing new under the sun. This emissions are what have caused the tumultuous transitions from each of our previous world eras. If you are not familiar with these facts, simply research indigenous tribes and their 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and soon to be 5th worlds.
What was released all that time ago will soon reach our earth in full strength. The Nexus has its own personal rhythm and does take some time to cross the galaxies and skies. I believe its arrival correlates to the Mayan Long Count End Date of December 2012. Afterall, the center of the Milky Way is where the Maya believe their Creator Hunab Ku resides. Our Creator has sent out an energy impulse, this Supreme Being is blowing us/creation a kiss. Unfortunately, our consciousness resides too far away from our original empowered selves to simply receive that kiss in bliss.
That incoming energy is meant to completely change our world, in other words, to wake us all up to who we are: infinite Gods and Goddesses with incredible abilities and powers. This incoming beam of bluish-white light will alter and restore our DNA from its current state which only uses 3% of its capacities to a renewed state of 100% remembrance. Translated: 97% of what scientist call junk DNA will be reactivated. WoW…a jolt of electricity that courses through our veins, awakening our souls and minds. No one is going to escape this phenomena. Thank you Hunab Ku!
Calling Occupants Of Interplanetary Craft, Klaatu from CompleatBeatlesOur main problem lies then with the Dark Lords who currently control the 3D world. They are also fully aware of the approaching Nexus and have set out a program to depopulate the Earth as much as possible. Why would they do that? Who are these Dark Lords? It's an old story, again, much of our missing history, but the short and long version of it is there is an inter-galalctic battle on right now, a war that is being waged for souls. If the Dark Lords, negative Et's, have their way, the coming earth catastrophes will take people into fear and fear is a place where they can trap one's soul, one's consciousness, forevermore. On a distant planet, in a distant place, maybe somewhere that looks exactly like our Earth, a new slave race can be created with the trapped souls. The Dark Lords know, full well, that their "time" on Planet Earth is over. A new era has cometh… the age of peace and enlightenment…and they must flee. They intend to flee with as many captives as possible. Sound like a bad sci-fi movie? I wish it were, but these are our current events and the facts are unknown to almost everyone. How frightening! Wake up, please, before you are whisked away to another dimension without personal agreement to do so.
Unbroken Chain, Grateful Dead from J4nLife"Right now the realm of darkness is not interested in this (peace). They are organized to block it. They seek to unbalance the Earth and its environment so we will be unready for the alignment in 2012." Carlos Barrios, Mayan Datekeeper
Take a look around…. ecological disasters leading to worldwide famines and extinction, environmental catastrophes that destroy the lives of millions, economical collapses that create a fearful, dependent race and threats of terrorism and world wars loom over our existence. Is this the four horsemen spoken of in the Book of Revelations? It clearly is the workings of the Dark Lords and its about to get more intense, after all, these are their death throes.
"From that 1987 date until now," Mr. Barrios says, "we have been in a time when the right arm of the materialistic world is disappearing, slowly but inexorably. We are at the cusp of the era when peace begins, and people live in harmony with Mother Earth. We are no longer in the World of the Fourth Sun, but we are not yet in the World of the Fifth Sun. This is the time in-between, the time of transition."
As we pass through transition there is a colossal, global convergence of environmental destruction, social chaos, war, and ongoing Earth changes. All this, Mr. Barrios says, was foreseen via the simple, spiral mathematics of the Mayan calendars. It will change, Mr. Barrios observes. Everything will change. He said Mayan Daykeepers view the Dec. 21, 2012 date as a rebirth, the start of the World of the Fifth Sun. It will be the start of a new era resulting from ~ and signified by ~ the solar meridian crossing the galactic equator, and the earth aligning itself with the center of the galaxy." Carlos Barrios, Mayan Datekeeper
You'll Make It Through, Mike Pinder from Jeff WMeanwhile, the Family of Light is exerting every effort for a mass awakening, for gathering, for consciously uniting as we know on some level that everything is dependent on us to do so. We are supposed to be creating an astral force field around the planet and ourselves in the shape of the Flower of Life (see Drunvalo Melchizedek's work on this matter for more information). This symbol can and will prepare us for the enormity of the approaching Nexus. We are supposed to be clearing our fields as much as possible of debris, creating no new karma, so that we are a crystal clear channel for receiving the Nexus energy. We must give praise and thanks as we have received, and will continue to receive, so much help from the Galactic Federation of positive Et's.
I ask myself though, have enough souls awoken to make this transition happen with ease? Can geological earth disasters be diminished? The Dark Lords are earnestly working hard to create as many earth catastrophes as possible in these last days in order to capture their slave race of unaware humans. Many will succumb to this fate due to fear, many will go to the stars as their earth contracts are complete, and a handful of ascended beings will remain on the New Earth.
If you happened to be a person who was to die in shock and fear, your consciousness would be lost and confused on the astral plane for a moment. It is in those crucial moments that the negative Et's can and will capture your essence in a containment vehicle if you are not aware. As quickly as you come into consciousness, get to the benevolent blue light. I have been warned not to be drawn down any tunnels or caves, nor gravitate to any bright yellow-red lights and by no means go with any beckoning ET's.
One of Us, Joan Osborne from krushkhaThe benevolent ET's, the light ones, are calling us home and their bioluminescent blue-white light is the signal. You can feel this with your heart. They have said Operation Victory is at hand. They have stated that the Dark Lords cannot succeed and all disasters will be minimized (let's hope so as some seriously dangerous threats are presenting themselves on the earth right now). They have also said the Dark Lords are at their most dangerous as they face defeat, so it is crucial to be fully present! Be aware! Vaccines? Genetically modified foods? Chemical spraying? Understand, these are some of their tools for mind control and keeping the masses asleep. Whatever cometh, wherever you find yourself in these last days where we count days, simply remember, you have only one thing to do: get to the bluish-white light, reach out for the Nexus. If you do, your full consciousness will be re-instated and you will be safe and empowered.
Let us recall the last sign in the Hopi prophecy which states that a blue planet from the Heavens will crash into Earth causing earth destruction, this last sign is what all elders are awaiting as our entry into the 5th world. Possibly, it is not a planet, but an energy wave: the Nexus?
Astral Weeks, Van Morrison from SpaceOdyssee0Lightwalkers, we are going home now. We have felt the Nexus approaching for years, even if we could or could not put words to it. Our Creator desires our remembrance and this collective shift to magnificence is welcome. Stay in your heart and the Dark Lords will lose power. It is promised and all is well!
Navajo, awaiting portal 11-11-11 and 12-12-12 to the Nexus!

Paul Krassner ~ The Realist, Writer, Comic, Investigative Satirist
Seven Decades of Satiric Cartoons
Brighten These Dark Timesby R.C. BAKER ~ January 10, 2017 AT 9:30 A.M. ~ Village Voice Source
Ex marks the spot, by Janet Bode, Kalynn Campbell, 1997 ~ Courtesy Fantagraphics ~ Large ImageDuring a perambulating phone interview, I asked Paul Krassner why, in 1958, he had christened his new satire magazine The Realist.
"I wanted to have a title that didn't say 'Funny Stories!' " he replied, adding with a laugh that he wanted readers to "discern for themselves whether something was real or fake." As the Realist Cartoons collection from Fantagraphics reveals, it wasn't just the magazine's title that foretold the bogus news and fact-challenged politics of our own age. The 84-year-old Krassner ("The new 83!" he says sunnily) began his career as a satirist in 1955, when he sold an idea to MAD magazine — "What if comic-strip characters answered those little ads in the back of magazines?" The renowned comics artist Wally Wood illustrated Krassner's vision of Little Orphan Annie mailing away for Maybelline products to decorate her blank eyes and Dagwood bulking up from a 98-pound weakling so Blondie wouldn't be able to push him around anymore. (Although he then becomes so muscle-bound she kicks sand in his face as he lies helpless on the beach.) Krassner wanted to include Popeye's skinny girlfriend, Olive Oyl, ordering a set of falsies, but MAD's editor balked. The magazine's owner, Bill Gaines, told the young writer that such ideas were too adult; MAD had started out as a comic book, after all, and its circulation, still aimed at teenagers, was steadily climbing toward seven figures. When Krassner said he understood why Gaines didn't want to change horses midstream, the publisher replied, "Not when the horse has a rocket up its ass." That was the moment, Krassner says, when he conceived a satire magazine for adults. "I had no role models," he writes in the foreword to the new book, "and no competition, just an open field mined with taboos waiting to be exploded."
The Realist #1 featured a gag panel of God and his angels watching TV screens tracking the planets. As mushroom clouds erupt on Earth, the Almighty, chin in hand, mutters, "Well boys, back to the old drawing board." By 1962, cartoonist Richard Guindon had drawn a nude as voluptuous as Ingres's Grande Odalisque, but with a globe substituted for her bounteous posterior. A relatively fit dude wearing nothing but star-spangled boxer shorts cocks his thumb at his fat companion, who has a hammer and sickle tattooed on his biceps, and says, "It's his turn now and then me again." Half a century later, the only things that have changed are the respective physiques of the Russian leader and the incoming American president.
Not Charles Schulz, 1962 ~ Courtesy Fantagraphics ~ Large ImageOther cartoons expose today's alt-right as simply the most recent outbreak of America's same-ol' same-ol' racism. A 1967 strip tackles the then undefined problem of Driving While Black with a used-car salesman who assures a customer inspecting a sedan, "This one was owned by an elderly Negro who drove it under the speed limit for fear of some cop ticketing him." (Krassner was born in Brooklyn, and despite having lived in California since 1971, has never learned to drive. Some years ago he moved to Desert Hot Springs, in the southern part of the state, where, he told me, "I've learned how to use an air conditioner.") A 1966 feature titled "The Big Bad Black Power Threat" pictures a ragtag group of folksingers and picketers from the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee facing off against Klansmen, neo-Nazis, chain-wielding hecklers, and well-armed policemen. The "Black arsenal to destroy Whitey with" consists of bricks and "No Deposit/No Return" bottles, a few of which are filled with gasoline. The cops are equipped with helmets, riot shields, guns, billy clubs, and "No-Scape Belts" for shackling protesters. To keep both sides up on their rhetoric, cartoonist J.C. Suares added a list of "Black Lit," which includes Blues People, by LeRoi Jones, and Prejudice and Your Child, by Dr. Kenneth B. Clark, as well as literature for whites, such as God the Original Segregationist, by the Reverend Cary Daniel, and a now obscure tract that, judging by its title at least, would have been a big seller at last year's Republican National Convention: The Most Persecuted Minority in the Nation — The Whites of the South.
Krassner welcomed all viewpoints in The Realist, including an interview with George Lincoln Rockwell, the leader of the American Nazi Party. In 1961 Krassner asked the white supremacist how he would handle those who crossed the party. "I believe in the Nazi methods of discipline," was the ominous reply. When Krassner pressed him as to what that meant, Rockwell, who had a long-term plan to be elected president of the United States, responded with a vision that eerily echoes Donald Trump's vengeful tweets: "Well, all I could do is take legal measures at this point, but in 1972 I will have the courts at my disposal and I shall see that examples are made. Nobody is going to trifle with us."
An equal-opportunity publisher, Krassner later printed cartoons by John Patler, a disgruntled member of the party who, in 1967, had assassinated Rockwell. A cartoon published in The Realist in 1969 — Krassner couldn't recall if he knew Patler was in prison for Rockwell's murder when it was submitted — riffs on a 1960s ad campaign for a Brooklyn bread company that included various ethnic types and the slogan "You don't have to be Jewish to love Levy's Real Jewish Rye." Patler's version featured a portrait of Adolf Hitler.
Flipping off the Almighty, by Frank Cieciorka, 1971 ~ Courtesy Fantagraphics ~ Large ImageA number of cartoons in the book confirm that America's gun fetishists have long been with us, whether a 1965 gag panel of a middle-aged man telling his younger girlfriend, "I've got to go out now, honey, and fire a few rounds. My wife always sniffs the barrel when I tell her I've been to Minute Man practice," or a 1998 parody of Charlton Heston parting the Red Sea with an assault rifle.
The Realist was first published from 1958 to 1974 as a newsprint magazine, usually two-dozen or so pages in length. Then, "when Reagan came alive," as Krassner puts it, he revived the publication as a Xeroxed, DIY, subscriber-based eight-page newsletter, from 1985 to 2001. Circulation peaked at around 100,000 paid copies, in 1967 (the cover price was 35 cents), although Krassner claims industry experts told him The Realist had an extremely high "pass along" rate, and may have reached over a million readers. This was partly based on single copies making the rounds of entire college dormitories, as well as the many issues stolen from libraries, since such outrages as the "Disneyland Memorial Orgy" — Wally Wood's fantasia of Mickey, Minnie, Donald, the Seven Dwarfs, and other beloved characters finally acting on their basest lusts after Uncle Walt's death — tamped down the number of folks who wanted copies delivered to their actual domiciles. After a distributor in Baltimore removed the Disney centerspread from every copy, Krassner offered to send free copies of the offending pages to anyone in Charm City who desired them.
Perennially popular, posters of Wood's salacious masterpiece have adorned dorm rooms for decades, and a full-color version is available on Krassner's website. Krassner used proceeds from this and other Realist posters — "FUCK COMMUNISM!" was a big seller, since any conservative who complained about the language could be accused of being a commie sympathizer — to support various causes, including sending an investigative reporter to Vietnam and bailing out a civil rights worker who had been arrested for voter registration work in Mississippi. Krassner didn't take a salary for his work, but made money doing freelance writing and, when fans of The Realist invited him to college campuses, stand-up comedy "in the guise of a lecture." With a laugh, he added that he would also do routines at anti–Vietnam War rallies: "I was the Bob Hope of peace," he said, referring to the Hollywood comedian who, for fifty years, entertained U.S. troops in combat zones around the world.
Throughout its various incarnations, The Realist proved a clearinghouse for cartoons rejected by mainstream outlets, becoming in a sense the first version of the New Yorker's Rejection Collections. A perfect example opens the book: In the foreword, Krassner writes that the Charlie Hebdo massacre was a "horrendous violation of basic semantic principles, such as 'The menu is not the meal' and 'The map is not the territory.' " A short time after the killings, he and cartoonist Mort Gerberg came up with a cartoon of masked suicide bombers carrying signs reading, "I am Charlie Manson." No one was surprised when the New Yorker turned down this darkly hilarious conflation of fundamentalist nihilism with America's go-to mass murderer.
"I was well aware that I probably couldn't publish The Realist in any other country," Krassner notes in the foreword. "This was the paradox of America." Still, a number of the gags are simply lol funny, such as a 1997 panel of a spot-lit emcee opening an envelope and announcing, "The winner of the psychic of the year award is.... " as everyone in the audience is joined by a single thought balloon reading, "Ooh! I hope it's me!"
A black face for Uncle Sam, by Bhob Stewart, 1961 ~ Courtesy Fantagraphics ~ Lagre ImageA number of strips redline the trippy meter, such as Ed Badajos's 1971 phantasmagoria of a bizarre Last Supper busted by the cops, followed by panels of Jesus and his harlequin-like devotees grinding through the capricious gears of justice. Ken Kesey, co-editor of that particular issue, exclaimed to readers that they were witnessing a "fantastic saga of Modern Man in Search of a Soul, any soul at all!" Krassner followed with, "It made me say 'Far out!' for the first time."
The Realist came of age during a cultural revolution that saw voting restrictions struck down by federal legislation and women win the right to safe, legal abortions. But now, Krassner told me, those and other advances are in grave danger: "It's all devolution. I never knew that marijuana would be legalized in my lifetime, and now they're trying to make it go back. The same thing with same-sex marriage....Now they're trying to get rid of that!"
Anyone who thinks this is hyperbole need only turn to a 1996 cartoon of Republican presidential wannabe Pat Buchanan singing "Home on the Reich," a wingnut wish-list that the Trump team is promising to finally fulfill: "Señor José sets his compass North for the Rio Grande/Let's build a fence from coast to coast then chase 'em down with hounds!!...CHORUS: Let's load 'em into cattle cars and send 'em outa town!...There's lots of homosexuals whose partners do abound....[CHORUS]....When those liberal libertines who drag our culture down plead for Choice and Gun Control, ignore that weak-willed sound!...Be sure to stand your ground [CHORUS]."
Alas, there are no cartoons of Trump in these 300 pages, but, as Krassner, momentarily somber, said to me over the phone, "His inhumanity is in there."

January 14, 1967,
A Milestone Was Reached,
...Then Forced Into Apathetic Decay,
Accepted By The People & Now Called Today!by C. Spangler
On January 14, 1967 I attended the Human Be-In in Golden Gate Park, San Francisco. Here is a story I wrote about that day which was published by Paul Krassner in his book, "Psychedelic Trips For The Mind."

Group Hallucination
by Curtis
San Francisco, 1967, the Human Be-In.
Something odd happened at this Gathering of the Tribes that still permeates my mind. I have confirmed that I was not the only one who experienced this.
Right before the Grateful Dead played, there was a "gentle person" from India who offered blessings from the stage. While this was occurring, a group of folks in the back of the crowd started screaming, "Fuck you, bring on the band," and other derogatory comments.
The person on stage stopped for a moment, kind of gazed in the general direction of the comments, bowed, and something that looked like a lightening bolt left him, and struck in that general area, illuminating it with light. This in turn seemed to swell the energy to even greater heights, and I heard the words, "Don't freak with a freak" come from the Cosmic Kitchen.
It was only a matter of moments before the Dead were (chuckle) tuned up and playing. This is when the oddity took place. I think the band was playing a song called "Alligator." The audience energy was swirling in what appeared to be a circle and gave the impression of being on a gigantic carousel. This swirling re-formed into this incredible egg-like shape of light that appeared above the stage, and everyone's body seemed to dissolve.
What happened next is hard to describe. It was like the light had joined everyone there together, and the realm of individuality was gone. There was a mutual chill of excitement that filled the air, and I began to hear comments like: "I think we made it." "Are we here?" "This is it!" And "God, isn't it beautiful?" For a moment there was absolute silence. We were all stuck in this "egg of light," and it was beyond any beauty that I could describe in words.
It was at this point I heard the words "Where do we go from here?" come from the Cosmic Kitchen. Almost instantaneously, I heard hundreds of responses come from the crowd, and very few were identical. The light began to fade, and in a flash we were back to the stage and crowd. I did hear folks asking one another, "Did you experience that?" among other questions, and the answer was yes.
When everything came back together, something new was present. It no longer seemed that we were one big family. It appeared that we somehow had resettled into smaller groups that were perhaps now driven by ego. Coincidently, this sort of shows up in successive events pertaining to the history of Haight/Ashbury and that culture.
This experience at the Be-In kept running through my mind. In the early '70s, Ram Dass and I discussed this at length, while sitting on the roof of the Palace Heights Hotel in Delhi, India. We came to the conclusion that this incident, which occurred in Golden Gate Park, was the beginning of what we termed the "Social Karma Ego Dharma Games," or a point where people started growing apart, rather than growing together.

Paul Krassner Interview at the Athenaeum from Claremont McKenna CollegeCelebrating the 40th Anniversary
of the Summer of Loveby Paul Krassner
Actually, the Summer of Love in 1967 was born on October 6, 1966, the day that LSD became illegal. In San Francisco, at precisely two o'clock in the afternoon, a cross-fertilization of mass protest and tribal celebration took place, as several hundred individuals simultaneously swallowed tabs of acid while the police stood by helplessly. Internal possession was not against the law. The CIA had originally envisioned using LSD as a means of control, but millions of young people became explorers of their own inner space. Acid was serving as a vehicle to help deprogram themselves from a civilization of insane priorities. The nuclear family was exploding. Extended families were developing into an alternative society.
There had always been a spirit of counterculture, taking different forms along the way. Just as the beats had evolved from the bohemians, the hippies were now evolving from the beats. No longer did you have to feel like the only Martian on your block. There were subcommunities developing across the country. "Make love, not war" had become more than a simple slogan. The banning of LSD also affected Bay Area underground papers. The political Berkeley Barb got psychedelicized and the psychedelic San Francisco Oracle got politicized. The CIA's scenario had backfired.
The blossoming of the flower children--encompassing sex, drugs and rock'n'roll--was at its core a spiritual revolution, with religions of repression being replaced by religions of liberation, where psychotropic drugs became a sacrament, sensuality developed into exquisite forms of personal art, and the way you lived your daily life demonstrated the heartbeat of your politics. There was an epidemic of idealism. Altruism became the highest form of selfishness.
Greek philosopher Socrates said, "Know thyself." Novelist Norman Mailer said, "Be thyself." And the '60s counterculture said, "Change thyself." Comedian George Carlin--who had entered show biz in the late '50s, wearing a suit and tie, performing traditional stand-up schtick--started surfing on that wave. He reinvented himself visually--jeans, T-shirt, beard, ponytail--and acknowledges that smoking marijuana really helped him to fine-tune his material.
"My comedy changed because my life changed," he says. "The act followed what was going on in me. Humor is very subjective, and what I was doing on stage didn't match up with what was going on in my life or the country--1967 was the Summer of Love, it was the height of the cultural revolution--love, peace, free sex, all crested that summer. Everything was changing. I was playing big shows like Jack Paar and Ed Sullivan, but inside I was anti-authority and I hated that shit. Parents might not have been able to relate, so I went to the kids. I was using my act to further my ideas about the times."
The mainstream media began to catch up with a whole new generation of pioneers traveling westward without killing a single Indian along the way. San Francisco became the focus of this pilgrimage. On Haight Street, runaway youngsters--refugees from their own famiies--stood outside a special tourist bus--guided by a driver "trained in sociological significance"--and they held mirrors up to the cameras pointing at them from the bus windows, so that the tourists would get photos of themselves trying to take photos of hippies. When Time magazine decided to do a cover story on hippies, a cable to their San Francisco bureau instructed researchers to "go at the description and delineation of the subculture as if you were studying the Samoans or the Trobriand Islanders."
This was at a time when a rumor that you could get legally high from smoking dried banana skins was eagerly spread across the country. In San Francisco, there was a banana smoke-in, and an entrepreneur started a successful banana-powder mail-order business, charging $5 an ounce. Agents from the Bureau of Narcotics and Dangerous Drugs headed for their own laboratory, faithfully cooking, scraping and grinding thirty pounds of bananas, following a recipe published by the underground weeklies. For three weeks the FDA utilized apparatus that "smoked" the dried banana peels. The Los Angeles Free Press promoted another hallucinogenic--pickled jalapeno peppers, anally inserted. All over southern California, heads were shoving vegetables up their asses. After I mentioned on stage that the next big drug would be FDA, sure enough, Time reported that there would be "a super-hallucinogen called FDA." Silly me, I thought I had made that up.
And then there was Newsweek. Kate Coleman, who, before graduating from UC-Berkeley, was busted at a sit-in by the Free Speech Movement, got a job there in New York.
"In the summer of 1967," she recalls, "Newsweek indirectly bought enough grass and paraphernalia to warrant a felony sentence in New York of one to 15 years. Only three years behind the times, it was decided to do a cover story on marijuana, and naturally I was assigned to the story. I went down to the Lower East Side's Psychedelicatessen and purchased two beautiful water pipes, a hash pipe, roach holders, a dozen packets of cigarette papers, and a few little psychedelic toys. What a haul!
"I also bought two ounces of Acapulco Gold and one ounce of Panama Red from my favorite exclusive downtown dealer. Newsweek footed the whole bill without a ripple, and I got the payola of a lifetime. But it didn't end there. The fact that marijuana was to be legitimized twixt the pages of Newsweek gave rise to unexpected curiosity on the part of both the senior editor and the writer of the piece, both of whom decided, independent of each other, that their respective editing and writing would lack verisimilitude unless they tried the stuff. I was approached by people all over the magazine, asking me to get them some pot."
* * *
A highlight of the Summer of Love for me was an acid trip at the 1967 Expo in Montreal. I had been invited to speak at the Youth Pavilion and also to give my impressions, on Canadian TV, of the United States Pavilion, a huge geodesic dome engineered by Buckminster Fuller. Before entering the U.S. pavilion, which was guarded by marines who had attended a special Protocol School, I ingested a 300-microgram tab of LSD."This pavilion is really beautiful, with all these flowing colors," I said to the interviewer. "You don't see them, but I do. There's an interesting kind of symbolism, though. These military men, combat marines, I don't see that in any other pavilion, military men guiding you around, saying, 'Yes, there's the Little Girls room' or 'Would you like to touch my medals for killing Viet Cong?' I think it's very appropriate that we should be standing right here by the largest escalator in the western hemisphere, since my country is the greatest escalator of the war in southeast Asia....What I would like to do, as a gesture of my commitment--since I feel there's something lacking in the American Pavilion, which is a certain recognition of the fact that the country is really split in two--since we're a nation of symbols, I would like to indulge in a symbolic act. I have my draft card here."
"You're kidding."
"Would I kid about a thing like that?"
"It's his draft card."
(It was really a photostat of my draft card, since I burned one each time I was invited to speak at a college campus.)
"And I'll hold a match here."
"Are you sure you know what you're doing?"
"If I may."
"He's burning his draft card. How about that for a scoop, hey?"
"Now, the reason I'm doing this is, again, because we get hung up on symbols. People will be more upset about this than about the fact that children are being burned alive in Vietnam...."
The marine lieutenant called his captain. When the interview was finished, the captain told me it was against the law to burn my draft card. So I took out my draft card and showed it to him.
"But he burned it," the lieutenant insisted. "I saw him, sir. He burned it."
"I burned a photostat of my draft card. So I lied on television. That's not a crime. People do it all the time."
"It's also against the law to make a copy of your draft card," the captain said.
"Well, I destroyed the evidence."
I knew that political demonstrations were barred at Expo, but I had managed to smuggle one in, along with the acid. The interview was labeled an "incident," and there was a heated argument between the U.S. Information Agency and the Canadian Broadcasting Company, but the incident was already on tape, so now it had become a free-speech issue. It would be shown on TV that night and become front-page news in Montreal papers the next day.
Just as I was leaving the pavilion, a band struck up a fanfare. I made the mistake of projecting my own feelings, and suddenly I was convinced that LSD had been sprayed into the air, that everybody was tripping, that peace and love were breaking out all over the world at that very moment. As I was wallking along, I started smiling at families and waving to them, and they were smiling at me and waving back. But then a core of reality came to the surface, the force of my own feedback made me turn around, and I saw that those same people were now pointing at me. What an asshole! I still blush with embarrassment.
Now, a non-profit organization, the Council of Light, has organized a free 40th Anniversary all-day concert to be held at Golden Gate Park on September 2 "intended to not only celebrate the music, but also resonate with the consciousness raising of the '60s as represented by eight goals chosen to receive donations and publicity from the concert. They are: Environmental Sustainability, Relieve Poverty & Hunger, Raise Education, Promote Gender Equality, Reduce Child Mortality, Improve Maternal Health, Combat AIDS, and create a Global Partnership for Development in undeveloped nations. Charities chosen by the Council representing these eight goals will receive all money raised beyond basic costs of the production."
For information, check out summeroflove40th@yahoo.com. But you don't have to be present at the concert to celebrate this phenomenon that occurred four decades ago--an evolutionary jump in consciousness--exploding out of the blandness and repression of the Eisenhower-Nixon years. Currently, a mass awakening, exploding out of the blandness and repression of the Bush-Cheney years, seems to be happening again. Or is that just wishful thinking?

I asked several folks to recollect an aspect of what the Summer of Love meant to them.
Stephen Gaskin -- author of Cannabis Spirituality:
When the Human Be-In of January 1967 at Golden Gate Park was conceived, it was against the background of sit-in's and teach-in's and was somewhat inspired by the civil rights movement. It was like a true rumor when the word on Haight Street was that all the hippies were supposed to come out to the Polo Field and see us all together.
I walked up to that gang of hippies filling the meadow, and I had to sit down and lean against a tree as if I was coming on to acid. While I was coming on, a mounted policeman rode up to look at the crowd and was addressed by a woman, also surveying the crowd.
She said, "Officer, my son is down there. Help me find him."The officer replied, "Ma'am, everybody down there is smoking marijuana. I can't go down there."
Later on, down by the stage, I saw a guy who seemed to be trying to hypnotize a young woman who was on acid by waving an incense stick in her face and rapping on her intently. I thought he was messing with her mind and she seemed to be in trouble. I tapped her on the shoulder to get her attention and said, "Do you need to be rescued?"
She said, with evident relief, "Yes, please!"
She and I walked over to the edge of the crowd and sat on the grass and she laid her head on my knee and finished coming on until she felt strong enough to go dig the rock and roll.
It was the first time we got to see how many of us there were.
Stewart Brand--publisher of The Whole Earth Catalog:
As I recall, it was either late in 1967 or early next year that just the torso of the lovable dope dealer Superspade was found hanging from a tree out by Ocean Beach, signalling that the Mob was taking over from the amateurs, and the high times were not over, but the luv was.
The displaced amateur dealers, now skilled entrepreneurs, took their budding business acumen elsewhere in the 1970s, starting all manner of companies, such as Whole Earth Access (same name as my Catalog, quite different people).
Roberta Price -- author of Huerfano: a memoir of life in the counterculture:
In the summer of 1967, between junior and senior year, I got job in London as assistant to the Young Ideas editor at British Vogue. I was a very young 21, but nobody asked if I had any ideas. I got sandwiches for Mandy Clapperton, the acting Young Ideas editor (the previous one was out with hepatitis). I went for clothes at Mary Quant and peeked over the office partition as a Beatle or Mick Jagger and Marianne Faithful walked through the office. They all seemed frail and vulnerable in person.
My U.S. friend Pam was studying in London that summer, and at night we swung through Swinging London together. At Granny Takes a Trip, I bought a white crocheted dress that stopped a few inches below my crotch. Pam bought dope from a young Englishmen. We couldn't find rolling papers, so Pam used tampon wrapper paper to roll joints, which worked. On Carnaby Street, we bought bubble dresses for us and Nehru jackets for the guys back home.
On weekend nights we went to the UFO, which had a constant light show and a staff who sold acid. The Liverpool Love Festival, Procul Harem, Tomorrow, the Pink Floyd, Arthur Brown, Eric Burdon and Fairport Convention played. We danced with men but couldn't hear their names; the flashing lights were enough to give you an epileptic fit. The crowd was a bit international, the space was dark, flash lit, grimy, vast.
Pam and I got $79 round-trip tickets on a German student train from London to Athens. It took three days, and all day long they piped American rock music over the sound system. Their musical taste wasn't as good as at the UFO. I heard "When you go to San Francisco, be sure to wear some flowers in your hair" at least 50 times. We danced in the aisles anyway.
In Greece, we rented a VW bug with two young Englishmen we met on the train. We drove around for a week, camping out at Delphi on the full moon. I was restless and dreamed of the Oracle. She was younger than I but looked like a hippie with her ethnic leather sandals and the wreath in her hair. She told me that after that summer, everything would be different. I already knew it.
Darryl Henriques --author of 50 Ways to Pave the Earth.
I began my professional show business career in 1967 when I joined the San Francisco Mime Troupe, earning the princely sum of $5 a performance. We were doing an antiwar Commedia play called The Military Lover. The Fillmore, the Grateful Dead, Bob Dylan, the Doors, the Beatles, the Stones, the Byrds, the Animals--all of God's creatures--you remember, don't you? That was the year Captain Kirk hot-rodded around the galaxy in the Starship Enterprise and Dustin Hoffman graduated with Mrs. Robinson. Allen Ginsberg was Howling, Paul Krassner was realizing, Abbie Hoffman was freeloading, and Scoop Nisker on KSAN in San Francisco was telling everyone, "If you don't like the news, then go out and make some of your own!"
We took the show on the road ($65 per week, a 1300% raise) and traveled across the country performing in theaters and colleges. It seemed every time we got to a college Dow Chemical had just been there, was coming there or, in the case of the University of Wisconsin, they were there. Dow was going to colleges across the country to recruit students to assist them in the crucial task of fabricating napalm to be used in Vietnam.
Next morning we went to the demonstration at the Commerce building, and at one point someone picked up a bugle and blew the signal to charge. The students immediately surrounded the building, and a group of them went in to conduct a peaceful sit-in. The campus police were unable to convince the protesters to leave, so the Chancellor called in the city police who took it upon themselves to beat the students with their nightsticks and spray them with tear gas, sending 30 of them to the hospital. It was officially the first violent protest against the peaceful protesting of the Vietnam War and Dow Chemical.
The irony was that according to the public relations director of Dow, they "could not have gotten better advertising" than student protests. They even started a company publication called the Napalm News. Not only that, but more students signed up to be interviewed, and on many campuses it became a "badge of honor" to be interviewed. Dow was justifiably infamous for their production of napalm, but their product that did more damage to people and the environment was Agent Orange. It was an equal opportunity weapon since it poisoned American servicemen as well as Vietnamese peasants. Better death through chemistry.
Little did I know how crucial it was for America to stop the Vietnamese from invading America. But thank God, in the end we won and now the Vietnamese are busy making our running shoes and sewing our T-shirts. You have to admit that killing over two million people to get them to make our running shoes was a bit extreme, but such are the pitfalls of the global economy.
Ken Babbs -- Merry Prankster:
Where were Ken Kesey and the Pranksters? They had already gone, as Peter Coyote put it, "under the asphalt." The previous year, after two busts for marijuana, Kesey had faked a suicide and disappeared into Mexico, leaving me in charge of the bus and ramrodding the Acid Tests in LA which came to a screaming halt the day before LSD became illegal when the bus and the Pranksters slunk out of town and hied off to Mexico to join up with Kesey, everyone to return to the Hoo Ess Ay when Kesey gave hisself up to the FBI and was sentenced to six months in jail.
Kesey and Paige took the fall so the Pranksters could go free, reason being to keep Neal Cassady from going to trial. He'd already been busted twice and had done two years in the Big House for two joints, and with one more conviction he'd be up for a life sentence. In the high days of the Summer of Love, the whole fershlugglnger crew cranked up the bus and drove down to the sheriff's honor camp to visit Kesey and Paige. They parked in the lot next to the camp, speakers playing James Brown, Pranksters in their Day-Glo regalia, lined up at the gate to be checked in.
At the end of the day the bus pulled out, "Hit the Road, Jack" blaring, up the Bayshore into San Francisco to the Haight and a stop at 711 Ashbury to visit the Dead before they, too, got busted, the only appearance of the Pranksters in the Summer of Love carnival, and then it was back to Oregon, to gardening, building, kids in school, digging under the asphalt, deeper, joined by Kesey and Paige in the leaf-changing days of fall.
Mountain Girl -- author of Primo Plant: Growing Marijuana Outdoors:
Before the moon-shot, before Watergate, one summer a long long time ago, there was The Hippies. They came to our Fair City, from every town, every place in the country, from near and far, looking for the Haight-Ashbury. They were young, gripped with restlessness and seeking a higher way of life. They filled the sidewalks of the old neighborhood--looking, seeking, clutching old suitcases, barefoot and hungry, with no particular place to be. Girls with raccoon eyes wept in the arms of boys just out of the Scouts, as hope faded for hot food and a safe place to sleep. Exhaustion and grime settled over them, and as weeks passed, more and more came.
The local shopkeepers tried to cope, and the young stole and carried off whatever they could. Puppies on strings and kittens stuffed in pockets accompanied the march. The good folk were moved to give food, some helped the mob find sleeping space, but crime soared and frightened them. The mayor of Fair City awoke in a foul mood and ordered sweeps, and the police raided freely. Tear gas rolled over the crowded street as thousands of lives touched and found each other and eventually themselves Music and songs from sidewalk songwriters filled the smokey air as joy spilled over and changed Fair City into Hippie Heaven.
And even today, Haight Street is filled with signs, clues, artifacts, reminders of the glory days for sale in a hundred shops. Go there and see for yourself.

Do We Owe Military-Style Police Swat Teams
to the Wild Story of Patty Hearst and the SLA?The dramatic kidnapping and deadly inferno are a crazy slice of the 1960s.

I asked author Brad Schreiber, “Why is your new book about the kidnapping of Patty Hearst important now?”
He replied, “Revolution’s End pinpoints the moment in history, the shootout and fire by law enforcement in May 1974, broadcast live on TV, that led to police departments across the country asking the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) to help them set up their own SWAT teams. In a post-Ferguson America, with the Standing Rock battle, we cannot overlook the importance of this beginning of police militarization.”
(Inside the pages, he points out that such militarization is due in major part to the Department of Defense’s 1033 Program, which has transferred more than $5 billion in Army military hardware to local law enforcement since 1997.)
He continued, “Also, the creation of the false front Symbionese Liberation Army (SLA), which destroyed a legitimate leftist movement, unfairly, reminds us to look carefully at major events and at who is being blamed, such as 9/11 being falsely attributed to Iraq.”
A diligent researcher, Schreiber traces African-American Donald “Cinque” DeFreeze’s background from boyhood when his father attacked him with a baseball bat and a hammer—his father also broke his arm twice when he was ten and again when he was twelve—all the way to doing time in prison where he met Colston Westbrook.
In 1962, Westbrook was a CIA advisor to the South Korean CIA, through 1969, when he provided logistical support in Vietnam for the CIA’s Phoenix program. His job was the indoctrination of assassination and terrorist cadres. After seven years in Asia, he came home in 1970, at the end of the war, and was assigned to run the Black Cultural Association at Vacaville Prison. There, he became the control officer for DeFreeze, who had worked as a police informer from 1967 to 1969 for the Public Disorder Intelligence Unit of the LAPD.
Schreiber states:
“When Hearst met Patricia Soltysik in Berkeley and was invited to attend a women’s rights meeting, her path toward meeting Donald DeFreeze at Vacaville was set….Defreeze now held an exalted position of authority on black family dynamics, despite the fact that he was secretly favored with sexual relations with white radicals Soltysik, [Nancy Ling] Perry, and Hearst.”
Yep, that was a reference to Patty Hearst. Renowned Lake Headley’s research revealed that eighteen-year-old heiress Patricia Hearst, daughter of Randolph Hearst, the publishing magnate, not only visited DeFreeze in 1972 at Vacaville, but also had sex with him in those conjugal trailers.” She visited him under an assumed identity of a UC Berkeley student who resembled her.
But, as an inmate explained, “DeFreeze would talk to me about his visits with radicals and left-wing people from the outside. One celebrity mentioned from time to time was Patty Hearst. She was spoken of at Vacaville as one who was into a left-wing bag.”
[Fun Fact: Patty had read Yippie co-founder Jerry Rubin’s book, Do It.]
“It was also well known through the prison grapevine that Patty visited DeFreeze…”
Schreiber concludes that, “Hearst’s secret relationship is absolutely essential to understanding why she was kidnapped.” He points out that a list of figures the SLA wanted to kidnap was recovered from an SLA safe-house, disclosing such abductees as banking executives and corporate honchos. However, “The media never questioned why Patricia Hearst’s name appeared on that list rather than the more obvious choice, Randolph Hearst.”
The reason began in prison. At Vacaville, DeFreeze was permitted to set up Unisight, a program which allowed DeFreeze, as a favor for being an informant, to get laid by visiting females. Investigator Headley’s affidavit stated: “That Patricia Campbell Hearst and her parents disagreed bitterly over Patricia’s political and personal relations. That a love affair between a black man and Patricia Hearst did take place prior to her relationship with her fiancé Steven Weed. That Mrs. Randolph A. Hearst subjected her daughter to extreme pressure to change her personal and political relationships.”
Patty began living with Weed in Berkeley in the autumn of 1972. (Fun fact: they both enjoyed smoking weed.)
DeFreeze was transferred to Soledad Prison that December, where he was given the special privilege of using the trailers ordinarily reserved for married trustees. DeFreeze became a leader of the SLA there and, according to Headley, renewed his affair with Patty for a brief time.
The affidavit continued: “Discussions were held between Patricia Campbell Hearst and the Symbionese Liberation Army concerning a kidnapping–-not her own.”
Whose, then? Her sisters, Anne and Vicki. The idea of kidnapping Patty, too, was brought up-–this was a year before it actually took place–-but she didn’t think it was such a great option. That would explain Weed’s scared observation of Patty’s outburst at the moment of kidnapping: “Oh, no! Not me! Oh, God! Please let me go!”
How did such a relevant surprise come about? Schreiber wrote that, “In addition to any drugs, electroshock and/or psychological coercion DeFreeze underwent in prison, just the actuality of being locked away changed the nature of his personality, as it does for all convicts.” With the help of Colston Westbrook, Defreeze never lacked for drugs. Subjected to a variety of drugs including, according to the Berkeley Barb, prolixin, he wanted to live in the fantasy world of a prison king.
DeFreeze was rewarded with sexual favors before he escaped (wink, wink) from Soledad. He had access to the trustees’ visitation, where he had access to Patty. But there was a disruption to his fantasy world. Because she rejected him. “His fury,” Schreiber continued, “was that of a man who was accustomed to always getting way. Hearst’s admiration for DeFreeze took a dramatic turn, when, at Soledad Prison, he brought up the subject of kidnapping for ransom.”
DeFreeze knew that Patty, the black sheep of her upper-class family, didn’t have a warm relationship with her younger sisters, and he suggested that they be kidnapped and brought to a remote location in Colorado, after which their father, Randolph Hearst, would pay a large a amount for their safe relief.
“Patty forcefully rejected this idea immediately,” said Schreiber. “When DeFreeze made a counteroffer to pretend to kidnap her and keep her hidden until a ransom was paid. Hearst suddenly realized that her exciting, secretive, political prisoner love affair was out of control. Her trips to Soledad ended abruptly.”
Revenge by DeFreeze would be the name of the game. And so it came to pass that Patty was kidnapped and forced to “join” the SLA. At the end of a communiqué that she was compelled to read into a recorder, DeFreeze came on with a triple death threat, especially to Colston Westbrook, whom he accused of being a government agent now working for military intelligence while giving assistance to the FBI.” The tape was sent to San Francisco radio station KSAN.
If SLA leader DeFreeze was a double agent, then the SLA was a Frankenstein monster, turning against its creator by becoming in reality what had been orchestrated only as a media image. When he snitched on his keepers, he signed a death warrant of the SLA. Headley and other investigators presented their findings to the Los Angeles City Council, charging that the intelligence unit of the police department—the Criminal Conspiracy Section—knew of the SLA’s presence but wanted a shootout for test purposes.
Indeed, during that shootout with police, six SLA members were either shot or burned alive in a Los Angeles safe-house. Patty Hearst and two others had become separated from the rest of the group on an errand at the time. Her boyfriend Weed was told by a cop at the shootout, “Don’t worry, Patty’s not in there.” Moreover, Headley acquired official film footage of the massacre, showing that the FBI used a pair of German Shepherds to sniff out Patty’s presence and make sure she wouldn’t be inside the safe-house. She heard the news of the fire on TV at a Disneyland area hotel, and she assumed they thought she was inside. Now she’d have to go on the lam somewhere else.
When Cinque’s charred remains were sent to his family in Cleveland, they couldn’t help but notice that he had been decapitated. It was as if his CIA handler had said, “Bring me the head of Donald DeFreeze!” [Serious Fact: Brad Schreiber was the first to prove that the LAPD used pyrotechnic grenades to burn down the house after tear gas didn’t force the SLA’s surrender.]
Flashback: After DeFreeze’s engineered escape, KQED, the public TV channel in San Francisco, reported that some leftist groups in the Bay Area were approached by DeFreeze. He startled them by presenting his services as a hit man to radicals. The idea of such a contract killer astounded those groups. KQED stated that these activists suspected DeFreeze of being the snitch he was.
However, the San Francisco Chronicle reported that DeFreeze had reversed his offer. Instead of promoting his services as a killer, he asked if any of the radical groups would agree to be paid to kill an un-named target whose eventual murder by the SLA alienated them politically from left, right, and center. They were all suspicious about the methods of the SLA and its leader. No wonder they suspected him of being an agent provocateur. Just who was this masked man?
Schreiber sums it up like this: “Donald DeFreeze wouldn’t have been manipulated into being the figurehead of the SLA if other black prisoners had been willing to play the role. But none were. Colston Westbrook knew no other member of the Black Culture Association who had been a police agent. And other inmates would not risk their lives as the head of a false-front counterrevolutionary gang, in exchange for sexual privileges and a conditional freedom that could spell their doom.”
The question isn’t whether DeFreeze was manipulated by Westbrook, but at what point he knew he was expected to personally kill Marcus Foster, the widely respected first black superintendent of Oakland schools. That moment came after his failure to enlist members of the radical left in the Bay Area. His hateful outing of Westbrook’s CIA connection in a communiqué on April 3, 1974 was that of an informant who felt betrayed by a former “friend” who was likely threatening him into a criminal act and then abandoned.
Ramparts published what many radicals were saying among themselves about the assassination, “the act itself was so brutal, so morally unjustifiable, and as politically incomprehensible that most Bay Area radicals assumed the SLA to be a cover for some right-wing or police group.”
Two SLA members—Bill and Emily Harris, who were on that errand with Patty during the shootout and fire—were interviewed by New Times in 1976. “I found out much later,” Bill Harris admitted, “that Nancy [Ling Perry] and Mizmoon [Soltysik] and Cinque [Defreeze] were the ones who carried out the action.” DeFreeze killed Marcus Foster with a shotgun. After all, Westbrook had labeled Foster “a fascist.”
Schreiber’s conclusion: “The execution of Foster was intended to create a politically charged war in the Bay Area, one that police and the FBI would be given free reign to violently quell, finally pacifying that tumultuous political landscape. Those on the left who briefly aligned with the SLA rescinded their support after Foster’s death.”
Eventually, a graffiti wall included SLA LIVES which was then obscured in the enigmatic made-over COLE SLAW LIVES, a slogan that baffled tourists and convinced one that a political activist named Cole Slaw was dead because it said that he was alive. But Revolution’s End serves as a carefully documented, shockingly significant missing link of American history.

Boptime with Even Steven + Legends of Wilmington Jazz
On Saturday's Boptime we begin at 6am (EST) by going back to 1943 and some of the darkest days during World War II and hear some classic radio shows from around this time in that year. At 7am (EST) we'll continue with playing the music from this day in 1943, take a special look at the movies playing in Wilmington's movie theaters as well as to see what local jazz bands were playing in the city's many jazz clubs. At 8am (EST), we begin with The Morrie Sims Show followed by the Delaware Rock & Roll Hall of Fame and catch up on some local tunes from the late 1950s and early 60s not yet heard in the segment. At 9am (EST) on The Club Baby Grand we'll play three by four. Because copyright regulations will only allow us to play no more than three recordings by a single artist during the course of a single broadcast, we'll play three choice recordings by Betty Roché, Clifford Brown, Lem Winchester, and Gerald Price. ~ Steve

New Year's fireworks from a shattered cometTUESDAY ~ JANUARY 3, 2017 +/- 6 am PST
via Lake County News: Source
SUNDAY, 01 JANUARY 2017 00:38 NATIONAL AERONAUTICS AND SPACE ADMINISTRATION
ScienceCasts: New Year's Fireworks from a Shattered Comet ~ from ScienceAtNASAThe year 2017 is beginning with fireworks.
No, not those fireworks …
We’re talking about a lightshow from shattered comet 2003 EH1.
According to the International Meteor Organization and other forecasters, Earth will pass through a stream of debris from the comet on Jan. 3, 2017, producing a shower of meteors known as the Quadrantids.
The Quadrantid meteor shower is one of the most intense annual meteor showers, typically producing meteors at a rate of more than 100 per hour from a point in the sky near the North Star, also known as the shower’s radiant.
The 2017 Quadrantids are expected to peak around 1400 UT – or around 6 am PST. The timing favors western parts of North America and islands across the Pacific.
The peak of the Quadrantids is brief, typically lasting no more than an hour or so, and it does not always occur at the forecasted time. Observers everywhere are encouraged to be alert for meteors throughout the dark hours of Jan. 3.
“Extra motivation to go out and view the Quadrantids is provided by the shower's reputation for producing spectacular fireballs,” said Brian Day of NASA’s Ames Research Center. “Not only are these fireballs memorable visual events, but also they are of scientific interest. Anyone can participate in a citizen science effort by reporting his or her observations. ‘Fireballs in the Sky’ is a free app that makes this easy. It is made available by Curtin University in partnership with NASA.”
Although Quadrantids can be numerous, they are observed less than other well known meteor showers. One reason is weather. The shower peaks in early January when northern winter is in full swing. Storms and cold tend to keep observers inside.
Another reason is brevity. The shower doesn't last long, a few hours at most. Those willing to brave the elements while keeping their eyes on the skies could be rewarded with a spectacular show!
The source of the Quadrantid meteor shower was unknown until December 2003 when Peter Jenniskens of the NASA Ames Research Center found evidence that Quadrantid meteoroids come from 2003 EH1, an "asteroid" that is probably a piece of a comet that broke apart some 500 years ago.
Earth intersects the orbit of 2003 EH1 at a perpendicular angle, which means we quickly move through any debris. That's why the shower is so brief.
Quadrantid meteors take their name from an obsolete constellation, Quadrans Muralis, found in early 19th-century star atlases between Draco, Hercules and Bootes.
It was removed, along with a few other constellations, from crowded sky maps in 1922 when the International Astronomical Union adopted the modern list of 88 officially recognized constellations. Although the Quadrantids now fly out of the constellation Bootes, the meteors kept their old name.
Quadrantid meteors: they come from a shattered comet and an extinct constellation.
That sounds like they are worth a look. Bundle up for chilly meteor viewing on Jan. 3. It’s a great way to start the New Year.

Develop Your Mind, Not Sacred Sites
In an 1868 treaty, drafted at Fort Laramie in Sioux country, the United States established the Black Hills as part of the Great Sioux Reservation, set aside for exclusive use by the Sioux people. However, after the discovery of gold there in 1874, the United States confiscated the land in 1877. To this day, ownership of the Black Hills remains the subject of a legal dispute between the U.S. government and the Sioux.
Where Have All the Flowers Gone?
Sacred Clowns
From Word Worlds, Where simplifying complexity becomes art.The Heyókȟa symbolize and portray many aspects of the sacred, the Wakȟáŋ. Their satire presents important questions by fooling around. They ask difficult questions, and say things others are too afraid to say. By reading between the lines, the audience is able to think about things not usually thought about, or to look at things in a different way.
Principally, the Heyókȟa functions both as a mirror and a teacher, using extreme behaviors to mirror others, thereby forcing them to examine their own doubts, fears, hatreds, and weaknesses. Heyókȟas also have the power to heal emotional pain; such power comes from the experience of shame--they sing of shameful events in their lives, beg for food, and live as clowns. They provoke laughter in distressing situations of despair and provoke fear and chaos when people feel complacent and overly secure, to keep them from taking themselves too seriously or believing they are more powerful than they are.
In addition, sacred clowns serve an important role in shaping tribal codes. Heyókȟa's don't seem to care about taboos, rules, regulations, social norms, or boundaries. Paradoxically, however, it is by violating these norms and taboos that they help to define the accepted boundaries, rules, and societal guidelines for ethical and moral behavior. This is because they are the only ones who can ask "Why?" about sensitive topics and employ satire to question the specialists and carriers of sacred knowledge or those in positions of power and authority. In doing so, they demonstrate concretely the theories of balance and imbalance. Their role is to penetrate deception, turn over rocks, and create a deeper awareness.

And in the end, the love you take is equal to the love you make. ~ John Lennon
The man whispered, "God, speak to me" and a meadowlark sang. But the man did not hear. So the man yelled "God, speak to me" and the thunder rolled across the sky. But the man did not listen. The man looked around and said, "God let me see you" and a star shined brightly. But the man did not notice. And the man shouted, "God show me a miracle" and a life was born. But the man did not know. So the man cried out in despair, "Touch me God, and let me know you are there" Whereupon God reached down and touched the man, But the man brushed the butterfly away and walked on.
