For running OuternetInABox on macOS, you will first need to download and install
Virtualbox and VirtualBox Oracle VM VirtualBox Extension Pack from here:https://www.virtualbox.org/wiki/Downloads
Then download the Outernet.ova (virtual appliance) from this directory.
https://archive.outernet.is/images/OuternetInABox/Release_2/macOS/
Once downloaded, just double-click the .ova file (wherever downloaded), and Virtualbox will open to import it.
[Ed. Note: If one has flashed Outernet with Skylark, Virtualbox, etc. is already installed.]
After import, select the Outernet vm in virtualbox, and click start.
by default files go in /tmp/Outernet folder. You can change this in the VM settings.

Most people use the foam insert [see 1st photo above] to prop up the antenna.
I used an old, spare, adjustable, scanner antenna attached to the rubber band.
