Sailing
Ken and I motored out of the dock for a 3 hour tour of the bay and as soon as we got out far enough, I raised the sails, which filled with mild wind, that increased as we proceeded to the far end of the North Bay.
On coming about, I noticed a sky pattern I had never seen before forming near the "Golden Gate" and decided to head home.
Then it happened... waterspouts started appearing and somewhere (iirc) I have a write-up in a publication we always tried to find a current copy of, Latitude 38, and when I find it, it will be posted. In the meantime, this picture will give one an idea of 'how I saw that moment'; however, the waves we experienced were between 10 and 20 feet tall:
Having been in similar (weather related) situations, I told Ken, "Grab the dog, and go below, I'll get us out of this mess," as a waterspout appeared behind us and the wind laid the sailboat horizontal in the water.
