Is that not something that is old-fashioned or out of touch with Christianity? It's right there in the same Book of Ephesians along with that other wives,-submit-to-your-husbands passage."

Rev. Mohler of the SBC: "I'm not scared off by that passage. It's in the Word of God which I believe is God's Perfect Treasure of Truth in that text."

Larry King: "So God wanted slaves to comply with their masters?"

Mohler: "Well, that text demonstrates that the apostle Paul by the inspiration of the Holy Spirit said, 'Slaves, if you want to model what a Christian looks like, you graciously submit (to your masters) and thereby gain moral authority.'"

Larry King: "Do you agree with that?"

Rev. Mohler:"Well, I have to agree with that. It's the Word of God."

10 warnings US missed [or ignored] about 9/11

WASHINGTON: In April 2000, more than a year before the catastrophic events of 9/11, Niaz Khan, a curry house waiter of Pakistani origin working in Britain, told FBI investigators in the United States that he had been trained in a terrorist camp in Pakistan for an impending attack on America involving commercial aircraft.

Khan informed FBI agents that he had been recruited at a mosque in Burnley, England, by al-Qaeda operatives who offered to settle his gambling debts.

He was then sent to Pakistan for training, and thereafter forwarded to the US to meet contacts for instructions on his suicide mission.

But the married 29-year old man ditched the meeting, went to gamble in Atlantic City, and then walked into an FBI office in New Jersey to relate this.

FBI agents interrogated him on and off for two weeks, put him through a lie detector test – which he passed – and say they took his story seriously.

Inexplicably, however, they then let him go.

The Khan escapade is one of the 10 or more warnings that the United States missed to bust the 9/11 plans, it has now transpired ahead of the release on Thursday morning of the report by a commission inquiring into the deadliest terrorist attack in history.

The report, parts of which have been steadily leaked in the US media, is reported to blame both the Bush and Clinton administration, and also the US Congress, for intelligence failures.

The Khan slip-up is just one of the several flubs that are being widely scrutinised by analysts. Most of the red flags that were ignored have been previously reported, but a cumulative narration in the 9/11 report of the slip-ups and failure to connect the dots suggests an intelligence failure of staggering proportions.

What is alarming is that despite the red flags, US officials winked at the familiar breeding grounds for terrorism. In an interview broadcast on NBC, Niaz Khan said he offered to take US agents to the terrorist training camps in Pakistan but there was no interest from US law-enforcement agencies.

Pakistan has repeatedly denied it hosts terrorist camps, a claim that Washington took at face value, publicly at least, while declaring it a frontline ally in the war on terrorism.

As with Khan, Washington was stunningly casual to a memo from Kenneth Williams, an FBI field agent in Arizona that alerted the bureau to suspected terrorists enrolling at flight training schools in the United States.

On another occasion, about five weeks before 9/11 President Bush himself was handed a memo with the headline bin Laden determined to strike in US.

In an even more graphic display of failure at the last line of defence, US TV channels on Wednesday night repeatedly broadcast footage of the five hijackers who crashed one of the planes into the Pentagon passing through security at the Dulles airport in Washington.

Two of them are stopped after they set off the metal detector alarm, but they are cleared after a cursory wand check.

While the 9/11 inquiry report details a stream of failures and laxity during both the Clinton and Bush administrations, Washington is already gearing up for a blame-game.

The report, coming only around 100 days before the Presidential election is expected to be a political hot potato with both the Republicans and Democrats citing it selectively to embarrass the other side.

Joe Allbritton, owner of WJLA-TV who is attempting to censor the LaRouche ABC telecast in the Washington area, is a secretive banking associate of George Bush. The Bush clique has aided Allbritton to become one of the world's richest men.

Albritton was Chairman of Houston Citizens Bank in 1976 when arrangements were completed with then-CIA director George Bush to buy out the Allbritton bank as a vehicle for Bush's private operations. The First International Bancshares (FIB) of Dallas bought Allbritton's Houston bank. Allbritton went on the board of the parent company FIB, and the Houston bank was renamed ``First International Bank in Houston''. George Bush, leaving the CIA, was brought in as chairman of the executive committee of the Houston bank, which continued to be run by the men who served as bank officers under Allbritton.

The Houston bank now served Bush (totally secretive and out of the limelight) as one of his two global operations bases, the other being London--where Bush was on the board of the bank's London subsidiary. Meanwhile, Allbritton, flush from the buyout and retaining these contacts in the Texas clique headed by James Baker III and George Bush, also became a London-based banker. At the same time, Allbritton increasingly bought stock in Riggs Bank in Washington.

In 1981, when George Bush returned to D.C. as US Vice President, his crony Allbritton took over as controlling owner of Riggs Bank.

In 1986, Riggs Bank got the first contract ever given a private bank to monitor the electronic funds transfers of the U.S. government -- this lucrative and sensitive contract came thanks to Secretary of the Treasury James Baker III. Despite this background, Allbritton is known publicly as a leader among wealthy Democrats -- thus, a leader of the "Bush Democrats.''

Allbritton, who maintains a home in London as well as Virginia, now owns WJLA, the Washington, D.C. ABC affilliate. He is well known as a thoroughbred horse owner entered in high-stakes races. With George Bush now U.S. President and James Baker his Secretary of State, Allbritton no doubt has important "reasons of state'' to stop the LaRouche broadcast from taking place Saturday night.

BANKING - The Bush-Riggs Connection

The decision last week by federal regulators to fine Riggs Bank $25 million for a "willful, systemic" violation of anti-money-laundering laws is raising new questions about whether the Bush administration's ties to powerful moneyed interests is unduly influencing U.S. foreign and national security policy. Riggs Bank is headed by longtime Bush family friend Joe Allbritton, employs President Bush's uncle Jonathan as a top executive, and other executives have been financial donors to the Bush campaign. The bank is at the center of a controversy, according to the Wall Street Journal, for failing to monitor "tens of millions of dollars in cash withdrawals from accounts related to the Saudi Arabian and Equatorial Guinean embassy," including "suspicious incidents involving dozens of sequentially numbered cashier's checks and international drafts written by Saudi officials, including Saudi Ambassador Prince Bandar bin Sultan." Sen. Charles Grassley (R-IA) "said members of the bank's board of directors should be held to account for failing to exercise their watchdog role over Riggs's operations" and said refusal to follow money laundering laws "allows terrorists to funnel their blood money through the system."
