LE - sidecar

FLH-80 - 1,340cc, (2,525) - $4,905.

Anniversary models:
XLH - Midnight black w/gold trim, anniversary graphics, gold aluminum wheels.

FLH - Midnight Black w/gold trim, anniversary graphics, gold anodized
cast eagle on clutch cover, real leather on seat.

Paint: arctic white, birch white, brilliant red, black cherry, charcoal
silver, chestnut brown, concord blue, vivid black.

Changes to XLH, XLCH, XLT:
- dual disc front brakes, electronic ignition, siamese exhaust system,
battery and oil tank moved inboard, cast wheels optional.

** Note, this is the last year for the XLT & XLCR. The XlCR had an
available option for dual seats. [Lottsa luck finding one of them as
factory originals].

* (At midyear, cast-iron valve guides, updated valves with harder
stems, and revised intake manifold and flat manifold O-rings were
available on the FXS, FX, FXE and FLH's, and each had electronic
ignition).

FXS changes:
- optional paint: Silver w/black tank panels + pinstripping.

FLH, FLH-80:
The 80ci is bored and stroked version of the 74ci.
A larger and more square air cleaner would contain the number "80" or
" 2100", [would that be Hormel Ham?]. The cam was revised and cast
aluminum wheels were optional.

MoFoCo minutes:
- Willie G, John Davidson, Chairman, and Vaughn Beals, Pres.., go riding America to meet and greet.
- HD ends it's relationship with Aermacchi. Aermacchi, ("Aeronautical Macchi SpA, made fighter aircraft in the war). Post war productions moved to boats and motorcycles. By the end of the '50's, aircraft production picked up with Lockheed, and Aermacchi and HD joined, (50-50), to be a seperate entity. HD was looking to replace the Hummer. The Ala Verde was built for sale in the US as the Sprint. [I may miss some], then came the Sprint H, Sprint C, Scrambler, SS 350, SX250-350, MX250, M-50, M-65, Baja, Rapido, "Topper" scooter, "Bobcat" 175cc, Cat/Pace/Ranger, Scat, [VIVA ITALIA!!].

Racing: Grand National - Jay "Springer" takes first, Hank Scott takes
3rd. Jay Springsteen places 6th in Daytona 100-mile 250cc.

[BTW - the Low Rider's success quickly over shadowed the FX, (another Willie G model to take advantage of a market segment which took cruisers and "chopped" them). I believe the seat was 27" from ground].

Oh, and the 1,340cc, (actually, 81.65cc, 1338cc), FLH had the rocket
disc tank emblem nastalgiaclly from the '30's.
The 80ci, also had one less air fin on the cylinder than the 74ci.
