September 17, H-D Motor Company is incorporated.
The initial stock is held between the 4 founders.
Model 3, 26.8ci, (150 produced), $210.
Options: 26" wheel, tank transfers w/red or gold centers, tank lettering
gold w/red outline or red w/gold outline.
Paint: Renault gray w/red double pinstripping, or Piano-finish Black
w/gold pinstripping at extra cost.
Changes:
Sager-Cushion front fork, (dual spring, leading link).
Oilers for fork rocker plates.
Engine hand crank became standard.
MoCo minutes:
All 18 employees given opportunity to buy stocks. Total company assets
are $35,000.
HD Motor Company prints it's first brochure.
An HD V-Twin prototype is shown at a motorcycle show.
(The V-Twin idea came from seeing Rem Fowler win the first Isle of Man TT race on a Norton with a Peugeot Twin engine).
Racing: Walter Davidson places in the top 3 in a 400 mile race from
Chicago to Kokomo, Indiana. He scores full points.
