I use a 2x500 G4 running OS X 10.1.5
and Final Cut Pro 3.0.2 because it works.
Connected to the G4, using Firewire,
is a digital video recorder and a 1.42 Mac Mini running 10.4.3
(Tiger).
Tiger and the Mac Mini see all of
my Firewire devices (cameras, decks, a/d converter) that plug into
the G4.
For a scratch piece or duplicate
video, while using FCP and the G4, I bring up iMovie HD (5.0.2
(111)) on the Mac Mini, click Import, and click Play on the G4
FCP Log and Capture window.
This method will also work using
iMovie (2.1.1), Quicktime (5.0.2) on the G4 and iMovie HD (5.0.2
(111)), Quicktime (7.0.3) on the Mac Mini.
Addendum 14 April
2007 - Late report:
I updated the 2x500 G4
to OS X 10.3.9, updated Final Cut Pro to vesrion 3.0.4,
updated QuickTime to version 7.1.5 and am very pleased.
